The rector of UP, Prof. Dr. Ramadan Zejnullahu, has mentioned and honored all those who have given their contribution to the University of Prishtina.
“We are here today to mark 45 years of the University of Prishtina and to express gratitude to all of those who contributed in the development of this institution. He added that “45 years is not a long period in history, but it is a long period of time in the life of a person. And, in these 45 years we have reflected on what we have accomplished and on what we have not. In comparison to our achievements, we have also had failures we wish we did not have, but there is nothing we can do about them. Sometimes, we did not say what we were supposed to say as academics and intellectuals. Other times we did not take actions we should have taken as academics and intellectuals and very often we have not given the youngsters a good example of how an intellectual and academic person should be.As a result of all these failures the university is not where we wished it was, even though it is still the biggest and most prestigious institution of higher education in Kosova. But, as I said, 45 years is not a long period in the history, that is why we still have the chance and we should find strength to improve what needs improvement.”
While the minister of Education Prof. Dr. Arsim Bajrami in this anniversary stated that University of Prishtina should be on focus because of its academic activity. “We want there to be no competition on who is going to become rector, pro-rector or dean, but who will become the best professor, the best researcher and the best scientist. We want there to be no protests regarding elections in the university, but let us have protests regarding the quality and the methodology of education.”
Gratitude papers were given to 28 of the most distinguished students of this university.
